SOLD OUT: Restoring Longleaf at Nemours

The Nemours Wildlife Foundation invites you to help establish longleaf pine on a portion of our property through a technique called underplanting! Join a Nemours staff member for an informative (and fun!) couple of hours learning about longleaf pines and the pine savanna ecosystem. After a brief presentation about the topic, Nemours staff will guide participants in a planting event to help spread this important native tree species within our property boundaries.
During this guided tour, visitors will experience:
- A 30-minute presentation about the importance of longleaf pine savannas
- A 1-hour wagon tour of a pine savanna led by a Nemours staff member
- A 30-minute longleaf planting session (your hands may get a bit dirty!)
- Plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sights, sounds, and wildlife
All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Please note, tours are weather dependent. In the event of cancellation due to severe weather, the tour WILL NOT be rescheduled. Instead, you are welcome to sign up for the next available public tour.
While the tour is offered free of charge, donations are vital to the advancement of our mission: to facilitate conservation and human well-being in the ACE Basin and beyond through collaborative scientific research, leadership development, management demonstration, and experiential education. If you are inspired to support our mission, DONATIONS of any size are greatly appreciated. Alternatively, cash donations can be left in a donation box located inside the duPont Conservation Hall on the day of your tour. These donations help us fund student research and offer educational programs (including these public tours!) to the community.
